Responsible play
Our competitions are meant to be a bit of fun. For the vast majority of people they are — but for some, gaming or entering can stop being enjoyable. This page explains how to stay in control and where to get free, confidential help.
Our commitment
You must be 18 or over and resident in the UK to play, and we may ask you to verify your age and identity at any time. We want you to enjoy our competitions safely, so we provide the controls and signposting below and will always act on a request for help.
Staying in control
- Set a budget before you start and stick to it — only ever play with money you can comfortably afford to lose.
- Treat it as entertainment, not a way to make money or pay bills.
- Set yourself a time limit as well as a money limit, and take regular breaks.
- Never chase losses. Trying to win back what you've spent usually makes things worse.
- Don't play to escape stress, boredom or low mood — and never play under the influence.
- Never borrow money to play, and don't let it get in the way of family, work or sleep.
- Balance it with other things you enjoy, so it stays one small part of your life.
Signs it might be becoming a problem
If any of these feel familiar, it may be time to take a break:
- Spending more time or money than you meant to.
- Chasing losses or betting more to feel the same buzz.
- Playing to escape problems or when you feel low.
- Hiding how much you play, or lying about it to people close to you.
- Borrowing money, selling things, or missing bills to keep playing.
- Feeling anxious, guilty or irritable about your play.
